I conceptualize and execute an annual high concept event and dining experience in my role as Director of Celebrations at the Fairmont Olympic Hotel Seattle. Each year twenty event planners are invited to enjoy an evening filled with good company and excellent food, all the while enveloped in a story told through design. In order to bring this concept to life I source and put together a team of talented Pacific Northwest event professionals.

For the “A La Mode” concept guests where treated to a juxtaposition of food and fashion with each course drawing inspiration from the wedding dresses of various cultures. The 5,000 square foot classically themed Spanish Ballroom was transformed into an intimate scene through strategic event lighting, sublime tabletop design and choreographed video projection that corresponded with the theme of each course. Executive Chef Paul Shewchuk created a custom menu to complement the theme that featured sublime scallops and delectable reductions served in an elegant style by the hotel’s banquet team.

Before the grand reveal of the Spanish Ballroom guests enjoyed a cocktail reception that featured an intimate fashion show by Seattle designer Luly Yang.

The goal of the event was to celebrate the unique traditions and cultures experienced in weddings and to create a renewed sense of discovery and wonder in an intimate dining experience.
