Tea Time: Inside the VIP Opening of Ted Baker London in Bellevue

Ted Baker London, the fashion brand know for its patterned dress shirts and playful humor, opened a new shop in Bellevue Square this past Friday. Seattle magazine was kind enough to invite me to the VIP Opening complete with tea and gin cocktails and Seattle’s most stylish guests. In a city obsessed with coffee the interior of the shop makes an unapologetic nod towards the British high tea party – complete with a splashy pastel color way and oversized doilies.

The boutique offers Ted Baker’s womenswear, menswear and accessories that blend smart tailoring with whimsical patterns and modern use of color. I spotted Seattle magazine’s Fashion and Design Editor, Jennifer McCullum, in the stunning ‘Kacied’ secret trellis dress. While Brenna Lyden, of the style blog Chic Street Style, donned the ‘Giova’ cream coat with an oversized floral design that is beyond perfect for spring.

Some of the guests began trying on their favorite pieces in dressing rooms complete with teacup wallpaper. After some investigation it became obvious that the brand has an exceptional approach to fit that contours a woman’s curves effortlessly. Elegant silhouettes get a whimsical makeover with oversized floral patterns and polished details suitable for everyday or an evening out. My favorite part of the night was seeing Tommy Bahama marketing manager (and my date for the evening!) Jaymee Espinueva reappear in the ‘Doona’ floral swirl dress to cheers from guests around us. Needless to say, I think she bought the dress!
