The Georgian: Classic Elegance has a Modern Moment

I recently had the opportunity to do a make over. Not for a person but for one of Seattle’s most beautiful and treasured dining venues. The Georgian at the Fairmont Olympic Hotel is known for it’s breathtaking crystal chandeliers, ornate details and, of course, its sensation cuisine. Earlier this month I collaborated with some truly incredible vendors to add a touch of modernity to this space that is an important part of Seattle’s history.

My inspiration for this mock ceremony in The Georgian was bringing the outside in. I wanted guests to feel as though they had stepped out of the hotel and into a place that was surreal and unexpected. To accomplish this, Crimson Haze set up wireless uplights that rotated custom color hues from a fiery “sunrise” to a violet infused “evening” sunset. A spotlight was then directed at the crystal chandeliers, casting a glamorous silhouette against the north wall. Of course, flowers are essential in designing a unique experience at an event, which is why I asked Anne Bradfield of Florescence to lend her talents for the evening. She created a gazebo covered in white gardenias that you could smell before you walked into the room.

To complete the experience Choice Linens covered cocktail tables with gold and champagne sequin linens. I’m pretty sure guests were surprised to find live Monarch butterflies enjoying themselves under apothecary domes throughout the venue. For me, it’s always the thoughtful details that bring an event to life.
