Summer Essentials: The Perfect T-Shirt
Most of us agree that a wardrobe must-have for the modern gentleman is a T-shirt. Whether you are running errands or plan on layering for a night out, a well made T is an essential building block for your off-duty look. With the explosive growth of the menswear industry there are now more options than ever before. But let’s be honest, wouldn’t it be great to solve the dilemma of deciding which T-shirt to wear as part of our morning routine? Which is why we should never forget that (even for a T-shirt) considering fit and fabrication are incredibly important to achieve the look that is best for you.
Recently, I had the opportunity to visit the Sharply showroom – a brand new menswear label out of Seattle. They promise soft, well-fit basics that make life simpler and men look their best. Now, out of habit, when I hear the word “soft” in conjunction with “basics” I immediately think of loose fitting and shrinking in the dryer. AKA low quality, because in order to be soft it needs to be pure cotton, right? I promise you this is not the case with Sharply.
Sharply’s T-shirts are designed with slub cotton which means the fabric is woven in a way that adds texture and major structure to each piece. The fit around the shoulders is perfect and the length ends just below the waist, offering a stylish and modern silhouette. Not surprising considering the brand’s founder, Molly Kuffner, has over 22 years of textile and design experience with Nordstrom.
My favorite T-shirt was the Drew V-neck Peat that retails online for $42. This might be a tad more than you’re used to but it is worth the investment. You can feel the quality and thoughtfulness of each piece as soon as you put it on.
to experience the brands.
